User Administration Concepts – II Summary

Before I go ahead and discuss “User Administration Concepts” Chapter 3, let me just give a brief overview about the concepts we discussed and learnt in Chapter 2.

Chapter 2 of User Administration basically dealt with:

–          Users creation

–          Group creation

–          Adding users to the group created

–          Create a common directory

–          Giving group access to the directory

–          Giving members of the group access to the directory by changing the permissions of the directory

–          Changing UMASK values of the users belonging to the group

–          Finally creating files under users login

Next chapter will discuss on how to change the group name for users having access to that common directory and how to create sticky bit for users.

Make sure that you understand chapter 2 thoroughly to have complete understanding of chapter 3.
